Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?
I wanted to win a National Championship. I wanted to impose my will on any matchups I had this season, and leave a mark on the game.
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Sure-handed, Athletic, Versatile.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I am working to become more explosive, as well as overall improvements to my body. Focusing on better daily eating. Always catching passes and working on perfecting route running as well.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
I start by watching a couple games so I can identify their personnel and matchups. As we install the game plan I look at different coverages and looks they will give us, and how it can be attacked best depending on the play call.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
I’m a natural playmaker in the passing game. Was a WR and Safety up until college, so I’ve always been in those situations. I’m athletic and able to stretch the field, and when you watch my film you’ll see that I’m a hands catcher.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I can be used many ways in a pro-style offense. I bring mismatches in the passing game. Have done a lot as the “H” Tight End being lined up at different places, and being put in motion pre-snap. Playing under 3 different pro-style OC’s between my time at WIU and Pitt, makes me a very quick learner when an offense is being installed.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
I’m a versatile TE with a lot of experience in a pro-style offense. You know what you’re getting out of me at any moment in a game (1st play or big 3rd Down in 4Q). I don’t get complacent and my mind is on improving daily as a player.
