Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My main goal was to win a national championship with my teammates especially since it would be my last year. I wanted to have the opportunity to go out on top and celebrate with all my teammates that I know have also worked really hard for it. As far as my individual goals I wanted to become an All-American and be recognized as one of the best in the nation and even lead the country in interceptions. Those may seem like big goals but considering CSU-Pueblo has been in at the top of the country in interceptions for almost every year I played and had a big name player playing in the secondary it didn’t seem to far fetched. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to achieve those but I was able to still be named 1st team for the conference as well as for the All-NFFCC.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I think my teammates would say that I’m an extremely hard worker. I always push myself to lift the most weight of skill groups and be first in all of our speed and conditioning drills. Even in the classroom I want the best results and I know my teammates always expected me to be on the semester honor roll. I also believe my teammates would say that I’m someone who doesn’t complain or make excuses. Even when it seemed there was no hope I would always talk about how we could still win it even if I knew they didn’t want to hear it at the time.I also believe my teammates know that I would do anything for them. Whether it’s taking extra time to help them with something we go over in film or even just making sure they’re taken care of when we celebrate our wins I always got their backs.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I’m reviewing myself from a previous game or in practice I always check to see if my alignment, keys, and technique was correct for the call which in turn makes me evaluate my assignment as a whole for the play. Very rarely are all of those excellent for every play in a game so there is always something to look to improve on. When it comes to studying my opponent I try to study what their tendencies are for every down. 1st down is usually a run or play action and second down may be a shot downfield if they gain 8 or 9 on first etc. Then I like to study the receivers I’m guarding and focus on how their releases are and how they want to create separation for the routes they run. I also look at tendencies of the quarterback to see if he stares certain routes down or anything he usually does that could give me an edge for what I’m expecting from that certain down and distance.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I think my biggest asset is my athletic ability. My speed and strength are in the upper tier of DBs if I compare them to stats from the NFL combine so I’m never worried about a receiver outrunning me or being more physical. Even when I face the 6’4 or 6’5 receivers I know my athletic ability keeps me in the game. My speed and strength are something I take pride in as it helps me with the way I attack receivers.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I was planning on getting some training done in my hometown of Fountain and Colorado Springs while also working at some possible gyms back down in Pueblo since the distance between them isn’t that far. Once I get an agent I’ll obviously consult with him to go over what is best exactly for what I’m trying to do.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I’m reliable. I come ready to work. I don’t complain and I don’t question I just do what I need to. Teams will never have to worry if I’ll be doing something that won’t benefit myself or the team because I’m always focused. As mentioned earlier I always push to be the hardest worker and I know that in turn inspires some of my teammates to want to work with me. I can help elevate my teammates and keep them from doing things that will jeopardize the goals of the team.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

If anyone decides to take a shot with me I promise they won’t regret it. I will work my ass off to do what’s needed and to be the best and I can’t accept mediocrity. I want to succeed and I will always push myself and my teammates to become better so that we will be hopefully what we all strive to be. You won’t find someone with a better work ethic than me, and I can guarantee I can be someone you can count on.
