Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
The only goals I set were to be the best player I could be and help my team win games. I also wanted to comeback a better and stronger player than I was before I had my ACL surgery. I accomplished that goal. I am bigger, faster and stronger and am still improving as a player. I definitely helped my team win some big games this season and got us off the field on 3rd down. Although I saw the field less than the season prior, I played my role on the defense and made some great plays. We had 3 very good dlineman that rotated and helped our team win games which is what it is all about.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say I’m the type of player that only has one speed. I hustle and I play with toughness and a heart. Many teammates look at me as a leader and a guy they know they can count on.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When I study film I love picking up on little tendencies that each player has to give away what they are about to do on each play.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me is my heart and my toughness and work ethic. I was a 2 time all American wrestler in high school with multiple division 1 offers. Wrestling helped me so much as a dlineman especially with my hands, staying low, and being explosive. Wrestling has also made me very tough and taught me hard work.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I will be training locally with a former teammate of mine who did has grad year at UMass and his partner who was a running back at Syracuse and had some of the best numbers in the country at the XFL combine. They have their own business training college athletes and training with them got me stronger and faster than I’ve ever been. They both had really good pro days and they practice what they preach. It’s a rugged environment full of guys that want to be great and push each other to be better.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
My strengths and abilities on the field include a high motor and relentless pass rush. If I’m not getting to the quarterback I am putting pressure on him and disrupting the play. Off the field, I am the guy who is constantly getting on my teammates to go get some extra work in. I love teaching and helping my teammates out in any way I can to make us better as a unit.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
My final pitch to any professional team that gives me an opportunity is that I’m guaranteed to be the toughest guy on your roster. I elevate the players around me and I’m someone all my teammates can count on. I’m constantly improving, the player I am now is much better than the beginning of my last collegiate season.
