Name: Malcolm Bowers
College: Concordia University Wisconsin
Position: Cornerback
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 195
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Malcolm: Smooth, disciplined, versatile.
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Malcolm: I’ve been training at a gym in Cedarburg, WI doing banded resistance training along with plyometrics and db footwork/drills & did speed/technique training at NX Level in Waukesha, WI, so I feel like I’m prepared.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Malcolm: If I could compare myself to any NFL player I would say Eli Apple or Josh Norman because we all have a tall lengthy build with the ability to stick to our receivers like glue as well as having the range to cover in zone, & not letting the opponent get anything easy.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Malcolm: When I study film, I look for a team’s favorite target based on down & distance, route combinations out of 1,2, and 3 receiver sets, as well as the offense’s tendencies based on down and distance.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Malcolm: I feel like my size and versatility separate me from other players. I have the size and length of a safety with the ability to knock a receiver off of his route or run stride for stride with a smaller but quick receiver. Also my versatility as far as being able to play other positions in the secondary. Most corners only play that single position, but I’ve played safety for a week as well as Sam linebacker & nickel due to teammates being inactive, all while playing corner as well. Along with being a starter on punt, punt return, and kickoff.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Malcolm: On the field, I bring focus from the time I step on the field for warmups to the time the game ends. I’m completely in the zone and locked in. Off the field, I’m somewhat opposite and am an easy going person who likes to have good clean fun.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Malcolm: I’m a hard working & determined guy who can contribute right away whether it be in the defensive rotation or special teams & will take personal responsibility in my daily efforts.
