Name: Garrett Fugate
College: Central Missouri
Position: Quarterback
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 217

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Garrett: Competitive – I am a competitor in everything I do and it shows on the field of play. I love to compete and put my team in the best situation to win.
Exciting – One of my biggest strengths as a quarterback has been keeping plays alive when something breaks down.
Passionate – I love this game and it shows when I play.

Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Garrett: Unfortunately I tore my ACL late in the season, so a lot of my preparation is going to be rehabbing my knee to get healthy enough to throw for scouts before the draft. I am going to Parabolic Performance and Rehab in New Jersey so that I can train and rehab to be as prepared as possible.

Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?

Garrett: I think my closest comparison in the NFL would be Russell Wilson. I can make all the NFL throws and also have the athletic ability to hurt teams by making plays outside of the pocket.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

Garrett: While studying film I like to look for tendencies in the defense. This includes schematically and individual players. I also like to find the defenses’ weakness. Once I have found their tendencies and weaknesses it makes it easier to expose holes in the defense. If I can recognize what the defense is doing, I can check plays to get our offense in the best position to be successful.

Q: What separates you from other players at your position?

Garrett: What separates me physically from other quarterbacks is my arm strength and athleticism. Mentally, I pick things up very quickly and prepare very diligently. Like I said earlier, I am the ultimate competitor and hate to be under prepared. I love to watch film and be prepared as possible for games.

Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Garrett: On the field, I can bring a lot to a team and organization. I am a team first player that is willing to do whatever I can to help my team win. I have always been a leader and will continue to do that at the next level. I am aware of my situation with my knee, but I am ahead of schedule with my rehab and will continue to train as hard as I can to be ready to help a team out this year. Off the field, I plan on being a great member of the community. I understand football is more than a game and as a professional football player you have lots of people looking up to you.

Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

Garrett: Please don’t look at my injury and the fact that I played division 2 football as reasons I won’t be successful at the next level. All I need is a chance to show what I can do and I am positive I can make a positive impact on a team and play in the NFL.
