Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?
Some goals I wanted to accomplish was to get my hands on the ball more, create turnovers against opposing offenses, show that I can cover and tackle in open field, be a difference maker, and help my team win any way I can.
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Playmaker, Dependable, LockDown.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
This offseason, I’m working on speed/explosion for upcoming combines/pro day. Also perfecting my craft as a Corner to give myself more opportunities to make a team due to playing Safety this past season.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Studying film, I focus on opposing Receivers and Quarterback tendencies, trying to be a step ahead on how Receivers run certain routes and their route concept. What weaknesses the QB has that I can take advantage of.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
Being a small school athlete, I don’t shy from competition and can play with anybody put in front of me, my ability to cover from the outside Corner position or Nickel Corner as well as being able to play the deep middle of the field and run sideline to sideline. Willingness to stick my head in and make a tackle. Love playing special teams and making plays there. My knowledge for the game to read offensive plays before they occur. Playing Receiver in Junior College gives me an advantage being able to notice route tendencies/concepts and already knowing where QBs want to place the ball, I’m able to attack faster than most.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
On the field, I would say me being able to play both Corner and Safety makes me versatile. Can cover the slot and outside Receiver and make plays in run support. Being an overall team player and wanting to do whatever it takes to make plays and win.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
When asked if can I play in the NFL, I don’t answer saying yes like most. I respond with confidence, “I will play in the NFL” you don’t come across people that will sacrifice everything for something that’s not guaranteed to return. I, Michael Crockett, am a Small School Athlete that will never shy away from a challenge nor competition and will be a blessing to any organization when given the chance.
