Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
In my senior season I set and accomplished the goal of being a team captain for the third time which is a huge honor and something I take very seriously. I set the goal of winning a conference championship as my most important goal which we unfortunately came up short on by one game. Personally, I aimed to improve in terms of my decision making and in running the ball which I believe I was able to accomplish. Finally, I wanted to finish as a first team all conference player which I was for the third year in a row as well as becoming the conference offensive player of the year for the third year in a row.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I hope that my teammates and coaches would say that I am a selfless leader who puts the team first always. I have always tried to be the hardest working person in the room in terms of practice, preparation, and overall effort. Being a leader and learning to challenge myself and others is a huge part of who I am as a football player and person.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When I study film, I like to start with any mistakes I may have made in practices and games. I start with watching turnovers and misses in order to create drills to emphasize and clean up mistakes. I also try and pay attention to footwork, my decision-making process, and timing. Where there are any deficiencies or repeated mistakes, I get with my coaches and teammates to clean them up and work on my own to constantly improve.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I think what separates me from other quarterbacks is my willingness to compete and win at all costs and my drive to reflect and be my own worst critic in terms of what I expect of myself as a player. I believe I can make every throw on the field and throw with the best of them as well as make plays with my feet to extend plays and run for yards. I take pride in my preparation and understanding of the mental side of the game from offensive scheme and gameplan to understanding my opponents in the best way possible to gain any edge that I can.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My offseason plan is to train in south Florida with quarterback coach Tony Racioppi at the Test facility near Fort Lauderdale. The program lasts 2 months and I will be preparing for my pro day and any other opportunities that arise.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I believe my biggest strengths on the field include my athleticism and ability to make plays on schedule as well as improvise as well as being able to play within an offense. I started 41 college games, every single one in my career so I have a lot of experience in different offensive schemes and feel comfortable doing whatever is asked of me on the field. I believe my ability to make throws all over the field both on and off-platform allows me to fit in any offense.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
My final pitch to any professional teams is that I have a combination of experience, work-ethic, toughness, and a physical skillset that will allow me to succeed in any system. I will elevate everyone around me and work obsessively to improve my own craft and help the team win. I truly believe I can make all of the throws and more and will do whatever it takes to help the team. My leadership qualities allow me to communicate effectively with teammates and coaching staff and I will get the team behind me to win football games. If you take a chance on me you will not regret it on or off of the field.
