What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

Some goals that I set going into my final season were to win a MAC Conference Championship as well as a Bowl Championship. These were two things that I had yet to do in my time at Eastern Michigan. These were also two things that had not been done in the program in over 30 years. Unfortunately, we fell short of both of these goals.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

I feel I took advantage of the extra year relatively well. The extra year was a year to apply everything I had gone through up until that point. Every rep of my career, whether in game or in practice, every win, or every loss, the extra year gave me another chance to grow and learn from previous experiences ,and also expand my football IQ even beyond what I had already known. Most importantly, I used the extra year to start and complete my Master’s Degree. This is something that I hold very dear to me and something that no one can ever take away from me. Initially, I looked at the pandemic as a drawback. However, when I look back at things, it kind of served as a blessing in disguise. Coming into college as a walk on, to earning a scholarship, to now walking out with two degrees is something that I am forever grateful for.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates would say I am a selfless player, who puts the team before himself. They would also say I am one who is very intentional about his craft and works with a purpose everyday.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When studying film, I tend to start by spending more time focusing on myself as opposed to my opponents. I say this because I know that if I minimize my technique issues, it will be hard to lose a rep no matter who I have lined up against me. From there, I tend to focus on formations that offenses come out in and what tendencies they have on each down and distance, as well as what route concepts I can anticipate on each of those downs and distances. Toward the end of the week, I narrow my film study to individual opponents by studying opposing receivers’ mechanics and releases.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

What separates me from other prospects is my drive. I feel like my story and my journey to where I am today is what molded my mindset. Beginning my career as a walk-on, nothing was ever handed to me, I always had to go and take it, and even after that I had to go and take it again. My persistent approach is what will separate me from most others.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I am currently training at Impact Sports Performance in Novi, Michigan with Jim Kielbaso. He has a list of guys who have gotten NFL opportunities such as Mathew Sexton, Jake Lampman, Darece Roberson, and more.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I will bring a blue-collar working mentality to whichever team takes a chance on me. This will be contagious to those all around me. This will allow the team to never be satisfied and to always want more. Off the field, I am a man of total trust and integrity. I am very dependable. I am always looking for ways to help others and am one you can come to for advice if you ever need it.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I am the epitome of humility, perseverance, and integrity. I am a guy who always looks to better himself, both on and off the field. I am a guy who is very optimistic about every rep, win or lose. Either way I will benefit and pull something out of it to better myself moving forward. Finally, I am a guy who will continue to fight for what he wants despite the odds that are stacked against him. Starting my career as a walk-on, earning a scholarship, and leaving with a Master’s Degree says a lot about who I am, both as a player and as a person.
