Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
I set a goal before I signed to come to Alcorn that I wanted to set records wherever I went. I broke the school’s all time career field goal record the first game of the season.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I am where I am supposed to be on time and consistently. I am dedicated to getting better at my craft and I’m an easy-going guy who just likes to laugh and enjoy playing football.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
I focus mainly on my technique. Being a kicker and punter your main priority is to put the ball where it’s supposed to go. So focusing on my technique and staying focused every rep I get makes me improve.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I have valuable game experience. I know what it is like to have great games and all the confidence in the world. I also know what its like to fail and have to bounce back the next week. I’ve had my ups and down and I’ve faced so much adversity in my 3 years as a starter and I feel like it has prepared me more for the next level than others.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Actually I’m currently a high school Human Anatomy & Physiology teacher and soccer coach to go ahead and get my career started on that aspect just in case my phone doesn’t ring from any team. I’m still going to workout with my trainer in my hometown. I trained with him this past summer and I love the way I felt going into summer and fall camp. I’ve always had a backup plan for when football ends, just so happens I have the chance to go ahead and make some money and start my career and get good teaching experience.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
My work ethic. My determination to be great every day/week/season. I still feel like I haven’t reached my peak yet and that’s something I’m eager to keep climbing this mountain of my potential to see how far it can take me.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
You’re getting a specialist who can do all three aspects (FG, P, KO) who has had valuable playing experience. I know how to succeed and fail and still prevail and not let it break me or make my head too big. I’m a team guy over individual stats. I just want to do my job the best way possible and help my team win in every aspect.
