Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
My main goal was to defend the deep ball more consistently than I did my junior year, and I accomplished that. I developed my ball skills on 50/50 balls through the offseason and it showed during the season.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
They would say I am an honest and hard worker who loves to win. I always want my team to be in winning situations, and whatever my role in that is I will take on with everything I got. I’m also the one who likes to have fun and keep the environment light so we can stay loose.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
I look at my own tendencies to try and mix them up to be unpredictable and to give myself an advantage week to week on my opponent. I also look for technique more than outcome of a play, because at the end of the day, technique will put me in position to be able to make a play.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I know the game very well. I can draw out positions and responsibilities for every player on the defense on every play call. I also understand route concepts and what offenses try to attack versus different defensive looks. I feel this gives me an advantage on top of athleticism and technique.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I am running track to work on overall top speed and running technique as well as working different muscle groups to become stronger. On top of running track, I am on a training program for specific drills I will see for my pro day that I do on my own.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I have speed and I can match that with fluid hips and good technique. I am competitive, and I don’t like to settle for anything. I break downhill off of a backpedal well to deny short routes and can transition to deeper routes in off coverage. I have good patience at the line and don’t allow receivers a free release. I also have ball skills and can attack the ball in the air. I can play in a man concept or a zone concept. Whichever fits a team best. And I hate losing.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
You’re going to get a kid who is hungry for an opportunity. I’m going to get to the highest level, regardless. Take a chance on me and you will find out.
