Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
Last season I tore my ACL and missed half of the season. I was on pace to be all-conference last season so one of my goals this season was to be all-conference this season which I accomplished. Another goal was to win a ring, which we also accomplished. My personal goal was to elevate my game and come back better than I was before my injury. I had time to watch from the sidelines and study opponents and pick up on things that would help me elevate my game. You can turn on my tape and see that I did just that this season. Teams avoided throwing to my side of the field.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I’m a natural born leader and a playmaker. I give 110% on the field whether it’s special teams or defense. I’m very competitive. I’m just a playmaker and always around the ball. My football IQ is at a very high level. Some people call me lucky but I’m always in the right place at the right time because I have a good feel for the game.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
I tend to watch myself a lot. I feel like the only way to improve is to be able to see yourself mess up. No one is perfect but when you can learn your weaknesses and practice to make them your strengths, the sky is reachable. Not only do I watch myself but I watch a bunch of film on my opponents and their player’s tendencies coming out of routes and how fast they are. Just the little things that will give me an edge.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
Since I’ve played on both sides of the ball in college and made all-conference on both sides of the ball. I feel like what Separates me from other pros is that I can play anywhere on the field. Offense or defense. Since I played offense I can recognize a lot of the route concepts and can feel the tempo of players when they run their routes which is why I wasn’t really tested out there on the field. I won’t say that I am cocky but I am very confident in my abilities and I hate losing more than I like winning.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
In the off-season, I plan on focusing on speed and putting on weight/muscle. Playing cornerback I know that I’ll be against speedy receivers. Focusing on speed this off-season will give me an advantage on others considering I’m already fast and twitchy. Adding more weight to me will only make me even better.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
To me, I feel like I can bring the juice, the energy and the fun to a team all while being focused and locked in. On the field I’m a playmaker, I just naturally make plays. Whether it’s offense, defense or special teams. Off the field I like to keep a smile on my face and those around me. Life’s too short to be down and worrying about the negative things going on in it. I try to stay positive on and off the field and have fun while I’m doing it.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
All I need is an opportunity to prove I belong. I know I belong with the big dogs. I’ve been doubted my whole life and I’ve proved everyone wrong even after coming back from acl surgery. I’m a dog. I’m hungry and I have a family to feed. I have a winning mindset. Choosing me to be apart of your organization would not be a regret!
