Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?
The most important goal I set for myself for my final campaign was to be impactful for my team both on and off the field. I wanted to be the guy my teammates could count on to show up regardless of the situation whether good, bad, or ugly. The guys I went to war with week in and week out were more than just teammates, a lot of them are going to be long life friends. It was important to me to impact their lives in a positive way and I hope they could attest to that.
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Aggressive, Fast, Relentless.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I’m doing everything in my power to improve my game both for my position as well as special teams. My training consists of weights and also field work. When I’m on the field, a lot of the drills target my hips and feet because it’s important to have a solid foundation in order to sink one’s center of gravity to change direction. I also work speed and hand-eye coordination. I put my all into everything I do, especially football because this is what I’m passionate about this is what I love. I never in life or football will sell myself short, I give everything have.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
When study film, I look for tendencies in the player or offense I am going against. I know for defense, I pay attention to formations to give me information on plays teams like to run out of those formations. I also look at player alignments as well to get a key indication on what the player might do depending on where he is aligned. Moreover, I take note of what plays offenses like to run on P&10 and 3rd downs. Pretty much, I pay attention to any noticeable advantage offenses give based on their tendencies.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
There are several things that I believe separate me. The first one being my toughness both mentally and physically, I am constantly in a relentless pursuit to get better everyday. The second ability that separates me is my accelerated vision. I am able to read and react in a short amount of time. Thirdly, I have very good footwork and hips. I am explosive at the point of attack and can change direction. Fourthly, I am a playmaker. No matter what the situation I show up when my team needs me. Lastly, I am a great teammate. I make the guys around me better.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
The strengths I will bring to a team are my leadership, selflessness, and positive attitude. The team always comes first and I will do everything I can to help impact the teams success. Off the field, I don’t have any issues I will always represent the organization I play for in good light. Giving back to my community is something I have done throughout my college career and want to keep doing. In addition, I will bring a positive attitude and bring 110% effort everyday and encourage guys to do extra, whether it be lifting, fieldwork, or film study.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
The organization that gives me an opportunity will get a particular athlete that strives for greatness day in and day. An athlete that will do anything in his power to ensure the team’s success. An athlete that is passionate about the great game of football who shows up to work everyday, blue collar. An athlete that will represent an organization the way an organization should be represented. An athlete that knows how to lead and does the right thing. An athlete that is hungry to play football and be a positive influence in his community.
