Warren Singletary Jr: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Warren Singletary Jr
School: Kansas Wesleyan
Position: ILB/OLB
Height:  6’0″
Weight: 225

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

Some goals I set were to win another conference championship which we did. Also was to have more sacks and tackles for a loss than the previous year. I increased in all my stats actually. Also a goal was to make KCAC All conference team. Going undefeated in regular season we also accomplished again.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

They would say I’m a hard working athlete that hates to lose. Versatile in a lot of ways. My coaches probably would say my instincts and timing getting to the fall is my strengths. My teammates would say my athletic ability being able to use speed, but also my strength making it harder for a defender to know which one I’m going to use. Other than that they would say I’m a leader on and off the field. I do things the right way and set examples for others to follow.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I study film, I focus on my mistakes, my weaknesses, and things other teams may do to try to defend me. Knowing my weakness and being able to see what I can do to fix it, can help me have and idea what a team may try to do to stop me. Also, my mistakes learning from them so I can be a better player.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

What separates me is my speed, but also speed to the ball. My reaction time is fast. Sometimes I read the play before it is developed. Being versatile is also a separation I can play in or outside the box, but also go down as a stand up D-end or over the center and be strong enough to create a good pass rush or run stop.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

My plan is to of course increase speed even more. Mostly work on my weakness. As far as weights, I’ll be working towards 225 reps bench, mostly all drills at combine or pro day is what I’ll be doing over and over until I get my results I’m looking for.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Strengths I will bring will be a leadership role of course by being a linebacker. Also, being a sure tackler and making plays. Being able to move me around in many positions would also be a strength, I don’t want be just a one dimensional linebacker. Off the field I’ll bring an image of a role model to kids, but also to the community. I don’t want just kids saying they want to be like me, but I want their parents to feel same way as “Hey this guy is someone you should model yourself towards. I’m going to be more than a football player.”

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

My final pitch is what I have been saying since I been playing football “I just need an opportunity to perform and show what I can do.”
