Tyler Reid: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Tyler Reid
School:  Western Oregon
Position: WR
Height:  5’9″
Weight: 170

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

The goals that I set for the last season that I was able to accomplish were not the traditional goals most people are looking for. But I was able to establish my ability to lead the WR group at WOU, which allowed me and the other guys to elevate our game all throughout season. It helped our team accomplish our first conference title and that’s far more important than any individual accolades in my opinion.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I believe my teammates and coaches would refer me to as a “coaching player” meaning that my understanding of the game is what allows me to be successful on the field. A player who’s always willing to learn more about the game and spread the knowledge for the greater good of his team.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I’m looking over film, I often find myself looking over my own tendencies to emphasize what worked well for me and what I can do to improve my game. When I’m scouting my opponent I break down what they do in particular situations so that I have a good idea of what I’ll see and anticipate what’s needed from me during games.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My willingness to work & my will power. It doesn’t matter what the circumstances are. I’m always hungry and I understand that this game comes with a process. My work ethic along with my mental toughness has allowed me to overcome many pits in my life and coming from a smaller school I know my options will be limited, but that won’t stop me from outworking my competition.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I’m heading back to home for the offseason (Eugene, Oregon). There I intend on bringing it back to my roots, training at my old High School (Churchill HS) with my strength program created by WOU strength Coach Cori Metzgar and working with numerous of my former speed coaches.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

When I step foot on any team, I bring the ability to make everyone around me better. Whether it’s on or off the field I tend to find a connection with people and this allows me to help them become a better athlete, football player, coach, etc. I personally want to be successful but I’ve always had the ability to help others be successful while playing, this has always benefited my team 100%.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

If you are looking for a guy who’s willing to give you his all, and has the discipline to make him and the people around him better I’m your guy. Tyler Reid is one of the most underrated D2 prospects you’ll come across in this class, but when given the opportunity I will show you exactly why you gave me this chance. You won’t regret it.
