Tevin Jones: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Tevin Jones
School: Mary Hardin-Baylor
Position: LB
Height:  5’11″
Weight: 230

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My main goal was to win a championship! We’ve have set a new standard in where would like to be as a program and playing for the championship year in and out is that goal. Beyond that, making the First Team All-American list for all the polls was my goal. I’ve achieved one First team All-American so far and also DPOY in my conference. Also received a 1st Team All South Region.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I’d probably say tenacious. I make it a goal of mine to create an energy that everybody can feed off of.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When studying film, I like to check and see how my opponent is tipping his hand and how I can use that to my advantage. I also look at things such as my pass drops and angles taken to make a tackle. There’s just always some little part of my game I’m trying to critique.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I’d say my ability to shed blocks and make one on one plays. I’ve always prided myself in being a “sure” tackler. Being able to play sideline to sideline is something I felt I displayed this season.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I plan on working with our new Strength and Conditioning coach and training with the guys over at Sacrifice training in Pflugerville, Tx. I want to add as much variability to my training as possible to become a more dynamic and and explosive player.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I think my speed and explosiveness are my greatest assets. It’s helped me in being a great run defender and defeating lineman much bigger than myself.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

My pitch would be that they would be getting a guy who is a natural born leader with a great work ethic. Someone who is a fast learner and and picks up on schemes pretty well. Also willing to make the transition to other positions if need be.
