Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?
The first goal that I had going into my senior season was that I wanted to make it to the playoffs and to win our conference. The second goal that I set for myself was that I didn’t want to give up a sack in the season and prove that I was one of the best Tackles in the conference.
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Dependable, Consistent, Technical.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I will train harder than I have before to improve the imperfections in my technique. I will be training to improve my hand and foot speed and to improve on my form.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
When I study film, I mainly look at the Defensive Ends and their tendencies (hand placement, stance, what side they like to play on, what stunts they like to do and when, how they try to set up the tackle before a stunt). Overall, I look at the defensive scheme and what they like to run stunt wise, and the defensive alignment for the stunt.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
I am a technician with the way I handle my position, I understand the way it is supposed to be done and how it should look, so I hold myself to a higher standard than even some of my coaches. I adjust my technique and the moves that I will use from week to week depending on the opponent and their skills. I do my research on my opponent that I will see the most of and adjust my play to handle their moves more effectively.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I feel my greatest strength is that I am very technical; I am always working on my form and moves to better my play for my team. My determination to be the best is another one of my characteristics, it has helped me to push myself to be the best that I can be, to help my team win, and have success through the season.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
I have shown through the years that I am not afraid to do whatever it takes to better my team if given the chance, I will not disappoint and will give everything I have into any opportunity I am given. I have proven a lot of people wrong with how far I have come and I intend to prove to them all what I am truly capable of.
