Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
Going into my senior season I had goals of being an All-MAC player and to win the Mac Championship and get a ring at the Division 1 level. Be the sack leader of the team and entire MAC Conference. I accomplished the sack leader goal for my team, but just fell a few short of the conference high.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would describe as the type of player that you could depend on no matter what, that I was always going to be where I needed to be when I was supposed to be and do my 1/11th. They would say I’m a selfless teammate, a very versatile player and a hardworking individual.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
So I’ll begin from the start by watching the Oline and see what type of team they are based on their play scheme whether that be a zone team or gap scheme. From there I know what plays could be ran out of either types so I look further into what the line as a whole gives out in their tendencies when it comes to run and pass keys whether that be signaling before the play snap, their stances and any niches like 2pt-3pt stance, they way their feet are set or if they’re leaning or sitting back in their stance. I’ll break down the tackles the most because they’re the ones I’m going against majority of the game and then from there I’ll look into personnel and take it to the bigger picture instead of just looking in the box.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
My work ethic is what makes me so much different from others in comparison to me and my determination of being called the undersized guy all my football career. I take things on with a chip on my shoulder and honestly anybody around could tell you that and even notice that if they never even knew anything about me. I’m versatile so I can play more than one position whether that be lining up from depth at LB, in a 3pt or 2pt stance on the edge and even on interior lineman in a 4T or 4i.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Honestly it’s simple, I get in the weight room as much as I can to keep building strength and muscle endurance. There’s not really a day off because I feel like there’s always so much more to improve on but now since I’ve had my Pro Day already it’s just time to increase the amount of fieldwork I do to match the time I’m in the weight room. Focus more on technique and perfecting my craft.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
My motor, my quickness & twitch. I play very fast so relentless effort, pursuit and ability to track the ball down is one of my biggest strengths. My technique plays a huge part as well as my FBI. I bring the quality of leadership to a team in regards leading by example and bringing high energy.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
Really take a second to look past all the ideal measurements for my positions and just turn on the tape. My film speaks for itself. If you knew my story you’d be able to tell what type of person and player I am just based off of that.
