Name: Ricky Bautista
School: Chapman University/Saddleback College
Position: Quarterback
Height: 6’1″
Weight: 190

Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?

Win a conference championship, make a run in the playoffs, SCIAC Offensive Player of the Year, have the highest passing percentage in the SCIAC, throw less interceptions than my Junior year.

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Calm, Confident, Comfortable.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Throwing as much as I can to keep my arm and body conditioned. Train with Quarterback coaches. Work on timing and getting my feet right. Quick feet is everything.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

Coverages, alignment of DBs, Linebackers, Safeties, how the defense disguises their converges, and miss matches. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th down “situational football”.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

My work ethic and preparation for the upcoming opponent. Athleticism, a good sense pressure in the pocket when protection fails and the ability to break out of the pocket.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

The knowledge I have for the game. I can adjust to any sort of offense. Being a Junior College transfer to a University, I was able to pick up the offense extremely well. When things aren’t going so well for the team, I will inform that we need to keep ourselves intact and know there is a lot of game left to be played. Stay calm within ourselves. Off the field, I will be wanting to get to know players personally and even get some extra film work, field work, etc. Having a strong relationship with players outside of football, certainly pays off when on the field.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I will be the one of the hardest working guys on the team. Never will I ever take a play off or ever miss any meeting, team function, etc. If you want a guy who’s willing to work hard, push teammates to become better, and willing to compete at the position, I can be that guy.
