Richard Stammetti: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Richard Stammetti
School:  Henderson State
Position: QB
Height:  6’1″
Weight: 210

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

The personal goals I set for the season were to have a 63% completion percentage, 2600 yards, 3:1 TD:INT ratio, and be voted all-conference. I ended the year with 60% completions, over 2800 yards, over a 2:1 TD/INT ratio, all-conference honors, and became 2nd all-time in passing yards in school history.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My teammates would say that I’m a great teammate and somebody they look to to lead the team each and everyday at practice and games. My coaches would say that I’m a great team player who is smart, tough, accurate with the throws, competitive, even-keel, trustworthy, and somebody who has continued to grow each and everyday.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

I try to find tells of what kind of defense I’m facing and then make sure I’m correct in my reads of the defense and I’m going to the right spot with the ball.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My accuracy and mechanics are better than almost any other QB in the country, I’m an extremely fast learner, and I have a huge chip on my shoulder to prove myself everyday. I was recruited by only 1 school at ANY college level (FBS, FCS, D2, D3, NAIA, junior college) after HS and had some other challenges along the way, but I’m still playing and chasing my dreams. I think that shows my love, determination, growth, and persistence to play the game I love.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

Right now the plan is to play in the Dream Bowl and the D2 Senior Bowl in December and January, then train in Las Vegas and find an agent, do pro day and see what happens.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

What I bring to the table off the field is being an upstanding citizen that does things to help the community, don’t get in trouble of any kind. On the field, I’m a very fast learner that will help me learn and master a professional offense while learning from mistakes and not letting them happen again and I will do whatever it takes to win games.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

Any team that will give me a chance will not regret it. They will get a player that is a great teammate, loves the game of football, very fast learner, and who has a chip on his shoulder and is excited to prove his worth and skills everyday.
