Prince Washington: 2023 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Prince Washington
School: Sacramento State University
Position: CB
Height: 5-9
Weight: 183

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I set high goals and expectations for myself because I know what I’m capable of and how hard I work to achieve those things. I had some uncontrollable injuries during the season that weren’t big or serious but the timing made me miss some games and fall short of my goals. I held opposing WR’s to a 40.4% completion ratio when being targeted (Top 10 in the FCS) which was 4.6% short of my goal of 35%.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates would say I’m a true professional in all aspects of life. I take care of everything the right way and I’m always doing extra to make myself and the people around me as best as we can be.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

There’s something new to learn from each day and a big emphasis of mine is to not make the same mistake twice. Each play I want to check all the boxes of: Alignment, Assignment, Technique & Finish.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My attention to detail & mindset of finding a way to get it done is what separates me. When playing corner your technique is critical when you’re on an island. If you aren’t detailed in your process, you will have inconsistent results so I try to focus on doing everything the right way all the time.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

My off-season plan is to play in the Tropical Scrimmage & the Dream Bowl. After these games I will be training at Bommaritos in Miami Florida for Pro Day.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My strength that will stand out to teams is my ability to learn quickly and take knowledge from film/practice and execute. I’ve always been a person that studies film and calls out opponents’ plays before they happen and giving my teammates tips.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

My final pitch to a team is to say I’m a guy that is going to come in and work immediately. Some may say I’m undersized at my position but I’ve never had problems guarding WR’s that are up to 6’8. I can play outside and slot corner and will make a positive contribution on special teams as well.
