Paddy Lynch: 2023 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Paddy Lynch
School: Youngstown State
Position: P
Height: 6-2
Weight: 200

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

Put myself in a position to get a look at the next level by getting some quality tape.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I’m a non-traditional punter who looks to play keep away and limit return yards. I love the high pressure situations; back off the end zone, holding a game winning field goal, I’ve executed both in game.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

What late stems to expect from teams, any give aways which fell if they’re rushing or holding up. That way, I can be a bit slower on my operation and give my gunners more time to get down the field and force a fair catch.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

The amount of different punts I can do. Like a golfer has a bag of clubs, I have a variety of punts I can execute for different situations. Whether it’s a high hang time ball that ensures it’s fair caught or convincing the returner I’m going to punt right and cutting the ball back left so it skids past him, I have a punt for every situation.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I’ve been training with 15 year NFL kicker Shayne Graham many NFL coaches go to to discuss prospective specialists. On top of that, I am in consistent contact with my Australian punting coaches from ProKick Australia who I send film too often.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

On the field, my unpredictability will have returner’s wondering where the ball is going to go and opposing special teams coordinators with no idea how to scheme up a return.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

Sam Koch had a long and successful career in the NFL as a punter who can punt the ball a number of ways. He increased his average net by 3 yards in one year simply by playing keep away with the returner. I can play the same role for the team that brings me in.
