Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
I set the goals to make first team all conference and win a conference championship and I am blessed to say that with the help of my team, I completed both.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say I am a hardworking individual who is hyper focused on having a successful team and a successful season and making sure that those goals are pursued year round and not just in season.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
As a Linebacker, watching film is a crucial part of my game.I like to watch film multiple times to see different things. The first time I will look for blatant tendencies and patterns, then I will check for play calling tendencies based on down and distance and personal differences. Then I will take note of formations and the plays out of those. All the while I watch for keys such as a lean of an offensive lineman, or head motions from the running back to indicate pass or run. I like to know the opposing team just as well or better than they know themselves to give myself that half a second mental advantage on reading and reacting to a play.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me from other pro prospects at my position is my work ethic and will to be great. Growing up my favorite football players were Ray Lewis, James Harrison and Troy Polamalu. All of these men were the type of player to outwork everyone on their team. Having the mentality that every play is their play to make and that they won’t be denied anything they want or deserve. I am the same way in that I will outwork everyone and I will not be denied.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I have been training at home in Orlando, Florida at Better Every Day Performance Institute with Coach Trevor Anderson aka TA 2claps. I have been training with a focus on pro day drills, general conditioning and on a potential move to defensive back. I work Linebacker and Safety/Nickel drills to prepare myself to be able to play any position needed at the next level.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
A few of the strengths and abilities I bring to the field are my speed, strength and communication. For a linebacker, all of these attributes are important and I pride myself on having all 3. Off the field, I’d refer back to my work ethic and ability to motivate a team for a common goal.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
My final pitch is that taking a chance on me is making sure you have someone who is willing to do anything for the success of the team on the field and off. Someone who is going to come into work every day first and leave last while outworking everyone else with no complaints. I’m ready to prove why I deserve to play professional football and I am ready for my opportunity to make my mark.
