Nick Weber: 2023 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Nick Weber
School: Florida Atlantic University
Position: C/OG
Height: 6-3
Weight: 300

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

The team goal was to be CUSA champions and unfortunately we did not accomplish that this year. My individual goal was just to be better than I was last year in all aspects. I feel like I achieved that goal, and my film shows that. I was able to earn CUSA honorable mention and CUSA PFF 2nd team honors.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates would describe me as a tough, smart, physical player who always gets the job done. My coaches had a lot of trust in me when it came to making calls on the line and getting everyone on the same page.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When studying defenses week to week, the main focus is what is their identity and how they try to disrupt the offensive line with their scheme. Once you figure out their scheme you look for tendencies that give away what they’re about to do. From a matchup perspective when studying interior defensive lineman I look for what are their favorite techniques to use in the run and pass game. Each player presents a different challenge and you have to adjust your technique accordingly. To improve my game I am always looking at my footwork, hand placement, and pad level. Those 3 aspects determine your success on a block 95% of the time.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I believe what separates me from other center prospects is my experience. I have started 49 games, most by any lineman in FAU history. I know how to handle a multitude of situations that can occur during the game, which I believe is one of the most important jobs of a center.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I have been training at FAU with our head strength coach Joey Guarascio who does an amazing job. I had a successful pro day, and now the goal is to just continue to train and hone my craft and be ready for the draft.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

The strengths and abilities that would stand out both on and off the field would be my extreme work ethic, experience, and leadership. These qualities are great on the field but also crucial off the field in order to have a fulfilling life.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

You’re going to get a physical, hardworking, and intelligent football player who is never satisfied and wants to get better every day. Someone who all his teammates respect and is a pro is every aspect of life. I have played all 3 positions on the interior of the line so there is no question of lack of versatility and I believe I provide great value to any team who decides to draft me.
