Name: Paul Smith
College: Concord
Position: Offensive Line
Height: 6’5″
Weight: 300
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Paul: Physical, Relentless, Impactful
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Paul: I plan on training at my local university and other local facilities. I plan on working on taking my conditioning to the next level. Also plan on working on increasing strength.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Paul: If I had to compare myself to anyone in the NFL, it would be Tyron Smith. As a long athletic NFL tackle he plays with a dominant poise and uses his long arms to engage defenders before they have the chance to get to him. I aspire to play my game like his when I play LT.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Paul: When I watch film, I look at the defenders stance, feet, and distance from ball. These three things can give you a good indication of what the defender is gearing up for. I also watch the defense’s pursuit of the ball.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Paul: I think what sets me apart from others is my willingness to do whatever it takes for the greater good. I’m willing to play any position to win and get the job done.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Paul: I think the abilities that I will bring to an NFL team is being an excellent role model and teammate for the team and the greater community. I plan on spending my life reaching out to those that are less fortunate than me. If you give me an opportunity, I can be a great player for a team. I believe that any team could use a hard working offensive lineman who is willing to give the extra effort to get the extra yard.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Paul: My final pitch to the teams out there is that if given an opportunity, I can make a huge impact on your team both on/off the field. Football is a game that I have loved for a large majority of my life. If given the opportunity to continue playing the game I love, I will do what I need to do to ensure success for not only myself, but also my team.
