Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Khalil: Fast, Explosive, Knowledgeable.
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Khalil: I’ve been training at Edge Performance in Louisville preparing for my pro day. Now I’m going to finish my training at Baptist Health Performance training.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Khalil: It would have to be OG John Miller of the Bills. Because I came to Louisville to fill his shoes the year he declared for the draft. So I got to watch tons of film on him and tried to model my game after him being that his having such a successful career in the NFL now going into his 3rd year.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Khalil: When I’m studying film on opponents I like to look for the defenses overall scheme first. I want to see how they line up what blitzes they run and the downs they run them on. Then I like to try and find tips that will give the blitz away such as a different alignment, or stance by a defensive player, there are tons of tips you can look for. Lastly, I like to study the players who line up over me. I like to find out what their tendencies.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Khalil: I feel like I’m a very smart player. Playing on such a high powered offensive I feel like I’ve learned the game of football more. While learning how to play out of right and left handed stances. I’m also extremely strong with a high competing drive not to get beat, but I would have to say my versatility is the biggest thing for me. I can play either guard position, tackle or center.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Khalil: The biggest ability would have to be my athleticism. For a 317 pounder, I am very agile and quick. Light on my feet all while still being the strongest person on the field.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Khalil: I just need a shot. By selecting me with one of your picks you will be getting a tough hard nose player who takes nothing from no one on the field. Someone who’s very passionate about the game and is going to play ever snap until the whistle blows. I’ve played against all the so called big time players and dominated, film doesn’t lie. Take me as the guard you’re team needs this draft, you won’t regret it.
