Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Javante: If I were to describe my style of play in 3 words it would be versatile, dynamic, and adaptable.

Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Javante: This offseason I am working to put on a few more pounds and continue to be that hybrid defensive back, as well as increasing my speed to allow teams to be more flexible with me within the scheme of their defense.

Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?

Javante: If I could compare myself, I think share a unique style with Tyrann Mathieu because of my ability to make plays in different aspects on the field and in any position. Whether if it is in the run game, or the passing game, or even on special teams.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

Javante: When I am studying film, I look for tendencies and cues that the offense may give. I’m studying what every offense is trying to do to our defense and what to expect in different situations. One big thing I study is the core of the offense and formation sets to understand what plays to expect, as well as be aware of the weaknesses of our defensive call. Allowing me to know what can hurt us on certain plays before it happens and when to take a chance.

Q: What separates you from other players at your position?

Javante: What separates me from other players in my position is my ability to be versatile which I believe makes me unique. I am physical in the run game and create problems in the passing game. My ability to play other positions and add value to the defense also separates me from others in my position. I am a body and a player who can play safety, corner and play, in the box.

Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Javante: I think that my on the field abilities being versatile will be a great asset to any team, but I also believe my ability off the field will stand out as well. My ability to break down film, be mission conscious, and work ethic are qualities that will stand out on and off of the field.

Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

Javante: I know that I am a player that is unique as a hybrid DB and I can add value to any program and organization. I am a tough player who is more than capable of playing multiple positions on the field, as well as having the mental capacity to play multiple. My ability to make plays in any aspect of the game is beneficial to teams. Playing every defensive back position as well as LB/in the box in some packages has given me the experience and know how to thoroughly understand the entire defense and get other guys in the right spots. My film study habits in the past has allowed me to call out offensive plays before they happen and I plan to carry that over. It is the nature of the game and I know some will overlook me, but I know I’m more than capable to be that “diamond in the rough” for a team that takes a chance as I have been through my career.
