Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
I had several goals before the start of my final season both team oriented and individual. My goals for the team were to win a conference championship for the 5th straight year and win a National Championship. We fell short of a National Championship but we did win a 5th straight conference title. For my personal goals, I wanted to be an All-American and defensive player of the year in my conference. Not only did I receive both of those awards, I was also a finalist for the Harlon Hill Award and the Cliff Harris Award. This past season I was very fortunate to receive a lot of recognition but I wouldn’t be where I am without my teammates and coaches pushing me along the way!
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I would have to say my coaches and teammates would say I am a player who plays fast and physical with a high motor. Along with that, I think they would also say I have a high football IQ which helps me get into the best position possible to make a play.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
Film is extremely important to watch because the camera doesn’t lie. When I watch film I am always finding ways to better myself. I look at what technique I am using on that given play and see whether or not it worked or if I could find a better technique to use.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I think what separates myself from other pro prospects for the LB position is my tenacity, my ability to play side line to side line, and being extremely coachable. Having that ability to run and track down ball carriers all over the field is something I pride myself on because you never know when a big play will happen. In the same sense, it’s always important to be a coachable player in order to become the best version of yourself.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My plan is to come to every workout with the mindset of this is my change to show what I can offer as a football player. I have a great trainer who is giving me all the tools I need in order to excel at my pro day and along with that, the best way to take care of my body for the longevity of the game.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I was a three time team captain at Notre Dame College so I will bring a leadership personality to any team. With that I am a team player in which I want nothing more than the success of any team I am a part of.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
Whatever happens I can only be grateful for because not many athletes get this once in a lifetime opportunity. To whatever team, I am the person who is always going to work hard, learn, and evolve as a player in order to help the team in any way possible win a championship!
