Name: Marcus Campbell
School: LaGrange
Position: WR
Height: 5’8″
Weight: 175
Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?
I was able to be one of the top receivers in the conference achieving the honor of being USA-South All-Conference my junior year. I’m pretty sure I was slept on and not many people were expecting that besides the people who really know me.
Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?
My coaches would say that I’m a hard worker who believes in himself and teammates. They would say that I’m very serious about learning and being a student of the game, but also how I enjoy every opportunity I get to play this game. They would say that I’m quiet but still able to be a leader by my actions. They would also tell you that I’m always itching to make a play, whether that be catching the ball or blocking.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
First I look for areas where I noticeably recognize weaknesses in my game. Then I focus on things that are my game currently, and learn how to do them even better and in different ways. I like to focus on the small things that often go unnoticed but are key to really improving your game. I also focus on weaknesses, strengths, and tendencies of opponents that I might face in the future.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
What separates me from other players at my position is my ability to quickly react to be able to make plays without any time to think. I also learn quickly and am able to adapt and adjust different things in my game so that I’m not limited to a few skills that teams can game plan against. I’m a versatile player and I feel like a key thing about my game is that I’m deceptive. I’m not the fastest, or strongest, but I make it hard to guard me with many different techniques that I have learned along the way.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I will continue to craft my position specific techniques as much as possible, and I will work my body to cater to my game even more with things such as speed and agility. I will also make better food choices, become more flexible in my yoga class, and only put the right things in my body.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
On and off the field a team would have a hard worker with me. A team would have someone who never gives up, doesn’t shy away from the big time moments, and will embrace every step of his journey with the team and in his career. I would bring nothing but positive energy and love to whatever setting that I’m in. I would bring a killer mentality and passion for the game on the field and play with a burning fire every play because that’s the only way I know how.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Coming from where I come from, not to many people make it to the heights God has allowed me to reach and I’m just blessed to make it thus far and am in awe of the things I’ve accomplished. Success is where opportunity meets preparation, and I am currently still preparing myself for any opportunity that is meant for me to acquire this level of success. Me being able to play professional football is a lot bigger than just me and my dreams. I aspire to inspire others with the things I do in life & I just need an opportunity and make all of this possible.
