Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?
There were 3 goals that I have accomplished at the end of my season. First of which was to improve upon my leadership ability, which lead me to be appointed team captain by my coaches. My second accomplishment was that I contributed to turn my program around from consistent losing seasons, to a school record in wins at 7-3. The last goal that I accomplished was making the NE-10 All Conference team.
Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?
There has been multiple things my coaches have told me about what kind of player I am. They have stated that I am a hard working, lead by example type of player, that my actions on and off the field best represents what our program stands for. On top of that, they have said that I have a no flinch mentality, that when things go south I don’t flinch, but confront all adversity head on.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
When I study film, I first focus on self-improvement. I look back at tape to see what I did wrong on plays and what techniques I need to improve going into my next practice. Next thing I look at is my opponent. I first study the tendencies of defensive lineman I’m going up against, from their stance and alignment to see if they give away stunts or blitz and I study their favorite or go to pass rush moves. Lastly, I would study the linebackers that I am going up against. I see which linebackers of the opposing team is strong at the point of attack, don’t move well in space, those that are used to blitz or drop off into coverage.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
What separates me from other is that I never been one to settle into complacency, I am always watching film to see how to improve upon on myself on top of working on my technique so I can be the best player I can be. What really sets me apart from others, is that I have that “dog mentality” of that I’m always going to get after it and dominate whosoever is in front of me.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Currently, I am doing strength and conditioning training at Hybrid Strength, a gym back home (Long Island). When I get back to school I plan to do combine training and positional work with various coaches back at school.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I am a high energy type of guy, so once my helmet and shoulder pads go on, I will be bringing a different type of energy to the field. With this energy I bring to the field, I will impact practices and even games, motivating teammates and getting them pumped. Off the field, I try to give back to the community. Back home at my church I am involved in the department that is responsible for giving food to those in need.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
I have always worked hard to exceed the expectations of my coaches, but more importantly of myself, to help better my team. So whatever team that decides to take a chance on me, they will get a guy that is a work horse, dedicated, and accountable. One that will do whatever that is needed to further help the team reach its goals, and represent what the organization stands for.
