Kendall Williamson: 2023 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Kendall Williamson
School: Stanford
Position: S
Height: 6-0
Weight: 203

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I wanted to be a part of a winning team and go to a bowl game. Despite falling short of that expectation, I had a great time playing with my teammates and growing as a leader. In addition, I wanted to put myself in a position where I could reach the next level. I’m hoping to have a good showing at my pro-day and find a home in the NFL.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates would say I’m a hard worker. I’m a firm believer that you can get anywhere in life if you put in a lot of work in both football and academics. The only way you will get better is through hard work and giving everything you have.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

In terms of my game, I’m looking at a variety of things such as my body posture, position, angles out of breaks (runs, passes). I’ll look to see if I’m in a bad position off an angle or if my footwork’s off because I’m taking too many steps or crossing over instead of shuffling. It’s a game of inches.

I’ll look to see where my eyes are as well. Typically, the stripe of your helmet will help determine where your vision is. I want to make sure I’m seeing the game clearly.

I’m also looking at my reaction time. Am I going too slow? too fast? This helps me improve my position on the field for tackles, pass breakups, etc.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My hustle. When you turn on the film, you’ll see I like to fly around, use my speed, develop range. I’m a dynamic player because I’ve been put in many different positions whether it be in the box, free safety, man coverage on linebackers. My success while playing these roles shows how versatile of a player I am.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I’ve been working out in Irvine, CA with Sanford Sports. They’ve helped me improve my strength and speed. I have also been working on drills for pro day. Former pro, Chris Conte, has been a great resource assisting me during board work, film, and on-field drills.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I’m going to be a sponge; I’ll never stop learning and working to develop and get better. I’ve never been one to be complacent. My genuine passion for the game will help me elevate and become a better person on/off the field.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I’m a player who is willing to give it his all every down, play, and take time to develop as a pro on/off the field. I will bring a positive attitude to the locker room and am in pursuit of being the best player I can be.
