Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
This past season one of the goals that I set for myself included continuing to improve my leadership skills. Being able to lead my team both by example and vocally gave me an opportunity to grow. It allowed me to focus on making myself and the players around me better. Going along with the leadership aspect, bringing a high level of football to both games and practices, every single day, was something that I prided myself on. Another goal of mine was to focus on the controllables. Blocking out any outside noise and doing whatever I could to help my team win was my priority this season. My final goal was to reach 1,000 receiving yards. I can proudly say that I believe I achieved all of my goals that I set for myself. I finished my final collegiate season with 1,027 total yards and 56 receptions, making myself the 8th player in program history to complete that task.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I have always had a strong relationship with my coaches and teammates. I pride myself on being the first in and last out of the facilities each day. I think the guys around me would touch on the fact that I am extremely competitive on and off the field and am filled with passion for the game. I am a strong leader by nature and am a playmaker. I’ve been the go-to-guy throughout my career and it is a great feeling knowing your teammates trust you in the most pressurized moments. Last thing I think they’d talk about would be my strong presence in the weight room and the film room.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
In the film room, I focused specifically on my direct matchups for each week. I made sure to identify their tendencies and weaknesses. Making sure I understood the game plan and schematics was also at the top of my list. Finally, focusing on my technique is something I always do. I try to make it as clean as possible by rewatching game film constantly.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
It is my size, physicality, football IQ, and work ethic that set me apart from the other pros in my position. As a bigger wide receiver in today’s game I have a lot to offer.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Right now I am training at APEC in Fort Worth Texas. I wanted to surround myself with some of the best players and trainers in the country in order to compete at the highest level.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I will bring leadership both on and off the field. My work ethic is unmatched and I make sure I understand my role on any team. I am going to compete day in and day out and maximize production.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
I am willing to do whatever it takes to help the team succeed. I play offense and all special teams. I am willing to do the dirty work on offense. Blocking is a huge part of my game. I work best when my back is against the wall and under pressure. I have a strong ability to pick up new play books quickly. I transferred for my last two seasons and was an immediate starter with over 1,700 yards of production.
