Justin Brown: 2024 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Justin Brown
School: Frostburg State/Maryland
Position: WR
Height: 6-3
Weight: 210

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

The goals I set for myself were to break the school’s single season receiving yards and TD record, first team all American, go undefeated, win the conference, and win a national championship. Unfortunately, none of these goals were able to be accomplished.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

Coaches and teammates would likely say I’m an unselfish player/teammate and I’m one of the most hardworking players on the team.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When I’m watching myself on film I’m always focused on my overall technique in my route running (how fast I get off the ball, how clean are my feet, how am I creating separation and what ways can I create better separation, how am I using my hands when the DB is trying to get hands on me). When I am studying my opponent, I’m focused on how fast/slow are their feet, how patient are they, what moves are causing them to open up their hips, where are they most physical and trying to get hands on

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

What separates me from other prospects are my combination of football IQ, athleticism, size, and physicality. Having played multiple positions (WR and TE) has given me a better understanding of the run game and pass game and how to read a defense. My size already gives me an advantage because I am a bigger receiver and my experience at TE has made me a much better perimeter blocker and I am very athletic.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

In the offseason, I planned to find a place to train at to prepare me for the next level. The two places I currently have in mind are Test and XPE.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

On the field, the strengths that I bring are being able to get yards after contact and be a physical threat in perimeter blocking. I can also act as an on the field coach because I usually know what I’m doing as well as what the person next to me is supposed to be doing. Off the field, I am a great teammate that will always represent the team well and look at for their brother so that they would not do anything to jeopardize themselves or the team.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

With me on your team, you will get an unselfish player that is willing to do what needs to be done for the team. Throughout my career I’ve experienced a lot of adversity with things not going my way or how I have planned, but have always managed to find a way to push through and keep moving forward. Every single day, every single week, every single month, and every single year I continue to work on my craft and find ways to get better and improve as a player and as a person. I would be a great fit in any locker room and any team.
