Joshua Donaldson: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Joshua Donaldson
School: Brockport
Position: CB/SS
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 195

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

In my final college season I wanted to become more versatile and to be able to play every position in the secondary. I was able to play corner, free and strong safety and did not give up a touchdown all season.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates throughout my college career would all say that I am very motivated and I am a student of the game. I love watching film and learning new techniques and ways to improve. My teammates would also say I’m the old head of the locker room. You can always rely on me to be there on and off the field. I am respected by all my teammates and I love when those around me are successful. My teammates would also consider me a calm person off the field but the flip switches the moment I hit the field and that’s what they like the most about me. I’m extremely vocal and I make sure whoever is playing with me plays with passion and aggression.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

While watching film I always put emphasis on my eyes and alignment. Often times when a DB gets beat it is because he had bad eyes, rather that’s peeking in the backfield or not locking on to the receivers hips in man to man. I stress alignment because football is a game of inches and having proper alignment gives me an even better chance of making a play whether in the pass or run game.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

What separates me from other guys in my position is that I am more than capable of playing any position in the secondary. I have the hips and technique of a lockdown corner with the attitude and tackling ability of an aggressive safety. Combine that with a great work ethic and willingness to get better I strongly believe that a team would not regret giving me a chance.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I have currently been training in Baltimore Maryland at Missile Academy under Coach Mario Knight. We have been working and preparing for my pro day in February. Working on becoming more explosive and fundamentally sound so that I can be an instant impact to any team who offers me a shot.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I will bring an excitement and determination to win that cannot be matched. I wiIl also be great on special teams I will add maximum effort into everything I do in practice and the games. I will also be a good addition to the locker room. I am a very likable person and I treat everyone with respect.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

To the NFL and all other professional leagues I would like you to know that I am the most underrated and unknown db in this class. I play with that chip on my shoulder. I have never given up a touchdown in man to man coverage ever including high school. I can play any position in the secondary, in any scheme. I have a very good understanding of the game, and I believe that my best football is still ahead of me. I’m ready to work when my name is called. You will not regret giving me a chance.
