Josh Hayes: 2023 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Josh Hayes
School: Eastern Kentucky University
Position: DB
Height: 6-0
Weight: 185

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I wanted to learn as many positions as possible to show how versatile I could be on defense.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates would say I have a competitive nature. I don’t like to lose.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

I focus on WR tendencies, are they lazy in the run game, how they run routes when they know they are not getting the ball, routes they tend to run based on formations, and where they align in relation to the numbers or hashes.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I feel like with me being able to play multiple positions in the back end, that is what separates me from lot of players in the league.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

My plan for training is to get as explosive as possible and work on my craft to become the best player I can be, that’s all that matters.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I would say having a high football IQ is a strength of mine and being able to know where almost every position is supposed to be on the defense helps me play faster and make decisions faster on the field. Off the field, I don’t have any issues, so teams don’t have to worry about me.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

Me being somewhere I’m not supposed to be because I tend to not put myself in those types of situations. Any team that wants a versatile DB that can do it all and play special teams, that works hard and is competitive, I’m your guy and you won’t regret it.
