Jessie Britt: 2023 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Jessie Britt
School: Southeastern Louisiana University
Position: RB
Height: 5-10
Weight: 195

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I wanted to finish with a ring and I did.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

Great teammate, Great person to be around. They would say I’m the energy. Everyone feeds off me, I bring the juice. They would also say there’s nothing that I can’t do.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When studying film I look for certain tendencies that defenders have when tackling and pass rushing. Are they someone who tackles low, or someone who tries to go for the big hit all the time as well as how are they in open space. As far as pass rushing, is it someone who bull rushes or tries to use a move. In the run game it’s best to know backer keys, are they reading the path of the back or the guard? Do they flow hard with pullers and things like that.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I do everything, of course I am a running back so I’m supposed to be able to run the ball but I would say I run the ball with a different tenacity. I refuse to go down. I’m just hard to tackle. I also block, which is really one of my favorite things to do. Whether it’s pass blocking or lead blocking I treat it as if I’m running the ball myself. Another thing is I DON’T drop the ball. I played my first 3 years of college as a WR so there’s that. I would say that’s an advantage alone. A huge mismatch vs a backer and I’m used to going against corners and safeties so that’s nothing new to me if I was to be put out wide. I also feel like I am valuable in the return game and other special teams.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I’m just going to be working out, staying in shape as well as getting in better shape. A lot of stuff to prepare me for pro day.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

As far as on the field like I said before I do it all and I do it good. Off the field I’m someone who it’s hard not to get along with. Everybody loves me.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I’m ready to work, I’m ready to come help the team in any way. All I need is an opportunity and I can ensure that you won’t regret it.
