Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
I had the opportunity to gain the trust from my teammates and coaches to be selected as a team captain. I also had to the opportunity to mentor younger offensive lineman to help improve their game.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I believe my coaches and teammates would say I’m a bully on the field. Every opportunity I had I would pancake whoever I was going against. They would also say I move pretty good for my size.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
I watch my opponent pay attention to their best moves to decide if they are a power or speed rusher. I watch to see what hand is in the ground or what foot they are leading with. Once I take note of that I’m able to decide how to run block or pass set in order to defeat their best move. I also watch my mistakes— if i opened my hips too early or could’ve taken a different angle to get to the second level. Once I see what mistakes I made, I’m able to put in the extra work so it doesn’t happen again.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I am a student of the game. My physical ability, work ethic, passion, mental acuity, and leadership help give me a separation boost.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I went home to Portland, Oregon. I train with Deshawn Fontleroy of Proforce Athletics. He’s working with me on my lower body, footwork, speed and recovery. I also train with Leland Johnson of Ballplayerz who is working on my upper body strength and swimming pool workouts for flexibility and explosiveness.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I understand my role on the team. I have the ability to hold myself accountable. I am open and welcome collaboration, and if my work is being criticized I listen to all ideas. I always have a positive attitude day in and day out. I am fully committed to the team and will represent them in respectful manner.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
Just give me an opportunity to show what I’m capable of. Even though I come from a smaller school doesn’t mean I cannot compete with individuals from bigger schools. If I’m given a chance you’ll just see me put my head down and work. I’ll Continue to make improvements and strides week in and week out.
