Jayden Goodwin: 2024 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Jayden Goodwin
School: Air Force Academy
Position: DB
Height: 6-1
Weight: 195

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My goals were to make all-conference, lead the team in a statistic, and help my team reach a conference championship. I accomplished an all-conference season, and I currently lead the team in pass deflections.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

They would say I am very selfless and extremely coachable. Also that I work hard and they can depend on me to give my best when my best is needed.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

I like to look at the tendencies of the other team. QBs – snap cadence and how it changes on third down, they’re go-to throw when pressured, and who they’re reading pre-snap to see the coverage. WR and TEs – if their splits correspond with certain routes, if they’re physical blockers, and if they take plays off when not getting the ball. RBs – physicality in pass protection, if they are are secure with the ball, and if they rely on power or speed. Knowing these things about opponents and how it impacts my assignments helps me play faster.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I feel that my ball skills are exceptional, as well as my football iQ. Also, the versatility I have shown by playing different positions helps to separate me.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I am planning on training with the Air Force strength staff to prepare for pro day, and I am searching for an agent.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I will bring discipline on and off the field and avoid being a high maintenance individual. Leadership through communication, as well as example is also a strength that I can bring to a team. By making others better I will help improve the team as a whole.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

My final pitch is that I am someone who has an unmatched love for the game and I am willing to work for anything I can get. As a player, I want to do more than just participate, I want to be a game-changer. I’m someone who the team can count on to make plays any minute of the game.
