Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
The goals I set for myself were to make sure I was a better leader to the younger guys. Even though I hadn’t been around them, I tried to help them out every chance I got. Other things were to try and play almost every defensive snap, get faster and make one of the conference teams and to just be productive every time I touched the field in any way. Unfortunately I didn’t make the conference team, as that was the only goal I didn’t accomplish, but with every other goal I set, I accomplished.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
That I’m very dependable when there’s a spot that needs to be filled, I will step up and take on that role and be able to play multiple positions.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
When I’m watching film I look for the other teams’ tendencies that will get me an advantage on the field so I can play faster and smarter so that I’m able to run around the field freely not second guessing myself.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I do it all I can cover, tackle, run down on kickoff/punt, set up my teammate to score on punt/kick return and even go back and catch the balls to try to set my team up and score. I am very versatile, not everyone is able to cover the teams best WR 1on1 then covering sideline to sideline as the middle field safety and even go to nickel and make tackles and set the edge on runs.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
To hit the weight room and do various field work drills that will have helped separate me from any other prospects, making sure I’m putting the right things into my body so I’m fit as a fiddle. Also to make sure I’m getting treatment so that my body will never break down on me which is key since being able to stay on the field longer makes you a great asset to the team.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
My work ethic and ability to be a leader and being a student of the game. I am a sponge who will take what I learn and never forget it, especially when it comes to mistakes because mistakes will be made on the field. I will learn from it so it never happens again, I never having to be told something more than once. Off the field I’m hungry to be in the film room so no one never gets the best on me on any play and if they do, I probably spend hours watching the play on what was wrong with my technique until I get back on the field and win that rep back. Also I bring a good vibe that every team wants on their team.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
Take the shot, you wont regret it. All I can say when you get me in front of you and it’s time to play ball, you’ll be amazed by what I can do and feel like the smartest person in the world for doing so.
