Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
My goal this season was to show and prove to everybody that I belong. I wanted to prove to people who still didn’t believe that I could play at this level, that I can and will. I wanted to prove to my team that they can depend on me during the game and that I had their back no matter what.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I think the first thing they will say is that I am a hard-working player. I train my butt off like no other. I am a better teammate because of the way I carry myself on and off the field and how I approach each game with the same level of focus and concentration.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When I watch film, I like to watch my opponent’s tendencies. What plays they like to run on par downs (1st and 2nd down), their runs schemes, what pass protections do they run the most, and much more. Just the type of things when I’m on the field so I can play comfortable having a pretty good idea knowing what’s coming at me. I have to thank Coach Marcel Lazard for teaching me those things and explaining the keys to finding those type of things.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I think what separates me is that I’m fighting for everything I had. I had to fight for the opportunity on Western New England University when I was playing there. I had to fight when I was at the University of Rhode Island. Everything that everybody sees now, there was so much effort and fight put into the finished product. Nothing was ever handed to me. For that I’m grateful because he taught me patience, perseverance, and humility. So I say the thing that sticks out the most about me, is I’m willing to go to distance for my dream, no matter what the cost.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Right now I’m training with a BlueStreak Sports Academy in Stamford, Connecticut with my trainer Ali Knott and also training with Ike Igbinosun of Prolimitathletes. I’ve been training hard every day, pushing myself to the max. Preparing myself for what’s to come.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
One of my biggest strengths is that I am very coachable. I love learning new things and building on top of what I have, and adding even more knowledge. In my career, nobody knows everything. There’s always something you can take from somebody and add it to yourself. I will say my strength is being able to study film and bring it to the field and recognizing it. I put so much emphasis on myself for knowing what the opponent is doing before it happens. I love watching film and breaking it down. So when I go on the field, I don’t feel clueless. I feel like my ability to bat passes down, while engaging with blockers has become way better. I learned that one way a defense of lineman can also cause havoc is by Ball disruption. So I would say that is one of my abilities that I can bring to a NFL organization. I can also keep my composure, whatever the situation, good, bad, or indifferent. I’m focused on the task of winning.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
Listen, I’m a guy who had to fight for everything he has had. I have not backed down from anything or anyone. If you give me an opportunity, I will show you that I am somebody you would want to take a chance on.
