Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
Before the season I set out to be an All-American. Although, I was All-Conference for the 3rd year in a row I did not reach my goal to become an All-American. This has fueled my off-season workouts as I work to become the best of the best in my position.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say I lead by example. They would say I’m the type of player when things don’t go my way I don’t complain and I try to adapt to the situation. I take responsibility for my actions and when a play doesn’t work out I am never blaming others.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When studying film, I focus on the things that worked so I know to repeat those actions. I also look at the things that didn’t work and I try to pinpoint why they didn’t work so that way I know what I need to work on in the following week.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
My hands. I feel like my catching ability is second to none. My route running is very precise and deliberate. I am a better receiver than most at my position, but still on par, if not a better blocker with the others in my position.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Working on my weaknesses that I portrayed last season and focusing on what sets me apart from other prospects in my position, so that entails becoming a better blocker and focusing on my route running abilities.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
My personality. My competitive nature pushes me and my teammates to work as hard as they can in practices and in games. My competitive nature also makes me want to be the best person possible off the field. I find that my competitive nature is contagious and pushes my teammates to strive towards being the best themselves, that they can be.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
In an ever evolving league TEs are needing to become better at receiving, I believe I can be a solution to any team that is needing a receiver that can still handle the blocking responsibilities but is able to compete with the best in the passing game. With sure hands and crisp route running I have the ability to contribute to any team in the TE department.
