Name: Jake Peterson
School: Valley City State
Position: WR
Height: 6’4″
Weight: 215
Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
Every year I focus on improving some aspect of my game that makes me a better player. This year I didn’t have much choice, but I believe my toughness was greatly increased due to playing through injuries I was unfortunate to receive. I didn’t have any personal bests, but I believe other parts of my game were greatly heightened.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches told me I was a special player that had chances to make big plays at anytime during the game. The first thing my coaches and teammates would say about me would definitely be about my work ethic. They would say I’m a very self-less player who puts his team first because helping my team win is all that matters to me.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
When it comes to film study, I am very picky with myself. I always bring a notebook to film to write notes on how to get better and every play, even the good ones, I have notes on how I can improve my game.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I have the kind of grit that developed when I was young because I had to work for absolutely everything I’ve received in my football career. I have the size, speed, jumping ability, and natural ball skills that I believe will allow me to stand out.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
This offseason I plan on moving to a bigger city where I have an opportunity to use an indoor football field and workout often to get myself in the best shape possible.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I obtain strong values that have stayed with me since I was very young. I have the “you have to work for everything” mentality and it has gotten me to where I am today. I lead by example and always try to make the right choices on and off the field, this is very important to me and I know teams will appreciate that.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
With a very humble approach, I would like to say, if you take a chance on Jake Peterson, you are getting a small town kid who values hard work, determination, and succeeding through adversity. You are also getting a big, explosive receiver who loves making plays under pressure. All I need is one opportunity.
