Jack Romer: 2024 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Jack Romer
School: Pace University
Position: DE
Height: 6-2
Weight: 240

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My goals for my Last season was first, for my team to have the best regular season record at Pace. Second, to be selected to All-Conference. Although, we did not achieve this season record goal, we got better each game and by the end of our season we had hit our stride. Personally, I was able to accomplish my goal of being All-Conference which came from hours and hours of hard work in the off season as well as extra work during the season.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches would say that I am a very hard working and dependable guy who gives 100% effort on a daily basis. I pride myself on being a coachable player who would do anything to help the team win. My teammates would say that I’m someone who backs up what they say and someone who has personal leadership qualities. My teammates would tell you that I am a player that will always answer questions from the young guys and willing to do extra drills with them after practice to help everyone improve their skill set.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When studying film, I always watch the entire game once, then the second time write down the tendencies that my opponent shows. I have found that Writing these tendencies down will give me little things to memorize during the game when I’m tired to give me a slight edge.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I believe that my ability to be coachable and do whatever it takes to win will separate me. No matter the role or position, I will always be locked in to the team mindset. My ability to study offenses and the tendencies of my opponent will separate me from other prospects.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

My off-season plans are going to be training with my brother who is also a college football player. Training with my brother has always helped both of us improve due to the competition and accountability to get up early everyday and train together.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I think that teams will notice how hard I play and if given the opportunity, they will see how hard I work off the field as well. I’ve always believed that when you make it, you give back to the community that raised you. I wouldn’t be anything without the people around me and I think teams will realize that a selfless person translates to a selfless player. As far as on the field attributes, I feel that my speed off the line of scrimmage combined with my ability to play the run or pass game will show out.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

My final pitch would be I am a player that will do anything to win. I believe that a team will get someone who will consistently stay hungry and driven. I am a leader who is always willing to learn from others around me. I believe that given the opportunity, I will make the most of it. Coming into college, I started out the 6th string defensive end. Through belief and consistency I worked my way up the ladder without quitting and leaving to go to another school that would give me instant gratification. No matter what position I start out at, I will find a way to improve.
