Israel Farfan: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Israel Farfan
School: New Mexico Highlands
Position: K
Height: 5’8″
Weight: 230

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My goal was to have better kickoffs with more touchbacks.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

Coaches and teammates would say I’m disciplined, competitive, prepared, and relaxed but focused under pressure.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

I focus a lot on my approach to the ball and finishing the same every time to be consistent. I’m my biggest critic in the film room because I want everything that I can control to be perfect and the same every time.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I have a huge chip on my shoulder that will never go away. Every field goal is a game winning field goal to me. I also have a lot of surprise onside kicks in my arsenal.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I’ve been working with Abel Hernandez from Through the Uprights Kicking this offseason perfecting my craft. I’ve also been working with the Colts punter Rigoberto Sanchez. They’ve helped me to maximize my kicking ability and make me better every kicking session. I will continue to work with Abel Hernandez until I get an opportunity.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My winning mentality. Ever since my juco days I’ve done everything I can to help the team win.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL/CFL or any other pro leagues?

I will make the team better. I’ve got a huge chip on my shoulder. Every day I’ll be hungrier than the last. I love to win so any organization willing to take a chance on me will get someone who will want to win at all costs.
