Isaac Weaver: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Isaac Weaver
School: Old Dominion University
Position: OL
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 305

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

The big goal I had was to help to establish the culture that the team had built over the past year with the new coaching staff that we got after the 2019 season. We showed that we did cement the culture with the fact that after starting 1-6 we were able to win 5 straight to make a bowl game for the first time since 2016.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

I looked at the extra year as a way that I could continuously work on myself and my game. Over that time I got stronger and more athletic than I had ever been, I also was able to study the game as much as possible and all these things have set me up with more football knowledge and more strength and athleticism to execute what needs to be done.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

They would say I am a very intense player but also one that greatly prepares and is always ready for anything that may occur during the course of the game.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When I watch film of myself I watch the things that I got beat on and study for the reasons why I may have lost that rep. When I am watching opponents I make sure to see if they have any indications to how they play or what moves they like to use.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

The best thing about my game is the position versatility. I’ve started games at center guard and tackle and am able to play all 5 positions. This is the big thing that separates me from other prospects.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

My off-season plan includes training as hard as I can for pro day and hopefully the combine as well as performing as well as possible at the CGS game.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Other than my position versatility and knowledge of the game I provide a good locker room dynamic.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I am exactly the type of person that teams are looking for with high character, internal drive, position versatility, and knowledge of the game I will be a valuable member of any organization. All I need is one shot and I will make the most out of it!
