Gabriel Amegatcher: 2024 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Gabriel Amegatcher
School: Northern Illinois University
Position: CB
Height: 6-2
Weight: 200

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My main focus was to learn and perfect new techniques I can add to my game, and continue to gain confidence using them against top competition. I also wanted to win a ring and even though we lost the Mac Championship we were still able to win a bowl game.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

They would say I’m very persistent and relentless. They would say I come in ready to work everyday and get better. They would also say I have a crazy work ethic and how my dedication to the game inspires others.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

First I watch the QB to get a good idea of who his favorite targets are and when he likes to throw to them. I try to understand is his favorite target a check down receiver or just a receiver who is going to try to make a play. Then I start to pay a little more attention to how the best receiver runs routes against press and off man. I pay attention to what he does at the top of his routes and how he gets in and out of breaks. Then once I’m done watching majority of their receivers I start to watch the offense as a whole and their tendencies moving the ball down the field.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My size and speed at the corner position. I was blessed with length and strength but can run and move with any WR. I can also tackle well.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I’ve joined a Pro-Day training program to get me ready for all the drills I’ll be competing in. Then I’ll be doing a lot of position work and conditioning afterwards to get ready for the season and any opportunities that come my way.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I’m a leader on and off the field. I look out for my teammates and want the best for others around me who listen to what I have to say. I’m detailed oriented, so I can learn things on the fly and adapt in game when we change plays to what the offense is doing. I’m gritty. I’m going to figure out how to accomplish something by any means necessary.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

My final pitch to General Managers and Scouts would be I have a lot of room to grow. I want to continue to learn and pour out my heart into this game at the highest level. I can also play any DB Position, but I love playing corner on an island by myself. I can also play any special team really well. I’ve been on every special team during my time in college and have gained confidence in knowing I can play anywhere from the front line on kickoff return all the way to a gunner on punt.
