Elijah Green: 2023 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Elijah Green
School: Northwest Missouri State University
Position: DE
Height: 6-0
Weight: 255

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My work ethic and dedication to my program and teammates earned me serval acknowledgements.
Including first team all-conference, defensive player of the year, first team all-American, a finalist for
multiple major awards, and being voted team captain by my peers.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

If my coaches and teammates had to describe me, they would use the word ‘grinder’. I am always willing
to show up first and leave last, setting a good example vocally and non-vocally. To bring about the teams
successes by whatever means necessary.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

During the season, after I know the general tendencies of the team we are playing, I like to look at the
matchups I will see myself in most. I will always evaluate each offensive linemen and see what kind of
technique they use. From there, I decide who I am going to rush and how many steps I am going to need
to take to set up my rush. I then study the offensive linemen’s hand placement and the timing of when
they shoot their hands. I then marry the timing of my steps with the timing of their hand placement to
determine what move I will use in certain situations.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I have the ability to both dominate in the running game and rushing the passer. I believe my 13 sacks
and 27 ½ tackles for a loss demonstrate that I am a complete defensive end.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I will be staying at Northwest to train with my strength and conditioning coach. He has developed many
players from Northwest to the NFL, and personally groomed me into the player I am today.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I have a very broad range of skills, but the skills that will stand out both on and off the field would be my
leadership, and communication. I have always been able to rally a diverse group of men for one
common goal, and that is where my communication stands out the most as I am able to relate to various
groups of people.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

Before college I had never played defensive line and even more, so I only started playing defensive end
last season, with the full body of work I have been able to display I believe I have tremendous potential
to be far greater than I am right now. I will always come in with my hard hat on ready to learn and work
and become the most dominate player I can be. Most importantly contributing to the team’s success in
anyway possible.
