Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
This season I was focused on just showing that I’m one of the top technically sound cornerbacks in the nation. Continuing to force turnovers was my biggest focus coming into this new team.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
Coaches and teammates would describe me a passionate yet savvy player. They would say I have that playmaker type of energy to me and that I am someone they can count on when they need a big play.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When watching myself I am very particular with how discipline my eyes and and how efficient my feet are. Playing DB it takes a lot of perfection to succeed being that so many factors are against you on the field so it’s important to be precise. When watching film on an opponent, I focus most on tendencies. Not just the WR but I pay attention to the QBs and also the offensive play calling in different situations. Understanding formations/alignments helps me understand the potential route concepts and how they may match up against our coverages, which helps me anticipate the Quarterbacks progression.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
My football IQ is up there with the best of them. I am able to see things happening before they actually do which give me an advantage and allows me to get so many interceptions. I also am a physical yet technical cornerback so my patience throws the timing off between the QB and the WR.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I’ve been training to get faster, I think for my position it’s mandatory that you’re fast and in the NFL they have nothing but speedy guys so I just don’t want to leave any doubt with any scouts.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
On the field you will be getting a player that has a ton of versatility being able to create turnovers on defense and make momentum shifting plays on special teams as well. Off the field you’ll be getting a man who is for the people in the community. Very down to earth and has be in almost all of the unique situations of life and just wants to help the people who are coming after him.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
I don’t know too many teams who aren’t looking for a true lockdown defensive back who has a track record of taking the ball away in various ways where ever he goes. Also being a specimen on special teams allowing myself to show my complete capabilities and be a difference maker at the times you need them most. If this is the kind of man that you are looking for then I am you guy and I can assure you that we will win meaningful games together!
