Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
The most important goals were team oriented, these included: winning another NSIC conference championship, being undefeated at home, making the playoffs, winning a playoff game, and winning a NCAA DII national football championship. We were able to attain all of these goals except for winning the DII national championship. My personal goals were to be a 1st team all-conference receiver and an all-American. At the end of the season, I was awarded the following: 1st team all-region (D2CCA), 1st team all-NSIC return specialist, and 2nd team all-conference receiver. Though I was not able to accomplish all of my personal goals, I was still able to accomplish remarkable things. I led all of DII for punt returns and held the record for longest punt return for a TD thanks to my punt return unit.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
They would say I am someone who is humble and has a ton of heart, possessing the ability to credit others first and play bigger than my physical size. Along with that, I am someone who emphasizes team first. I am willing to do whatever it takes to put my team in the best position possible and I am dominant on the perimeter run blocking. They would say that I excel as a leader through action. I am a lead-by-example type of guy. Most importantly, they would acknowledge that I just do things the right way.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When studying film, I first focus on my receiver technique, finding ways I can improve my stances, releases, and route running. Then I move on to how I finish plays, ensuring that I am always working until the end of the whistle, whether that is finishing to the ball or being engaged with a defender. I also like to understand how opponents play different downs like P&10, 3rd & long, 3rd & short, the red zone, etc.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I am someone who does it the right way, through my obsession with details. I would say that my physicality is unmatched. I excel without the ball, willing to do the dirty work. With the ball in my hands, I am dynamic. I can turn 5 yards into an explosive play and any return into positive field position.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I plan to continue to develop my skills and knowledge of the game. I will aim to improve my speed and agility, while also focusing on the fundamentals of being a receiver. Ultimately, you can be assured that I will be prepared for any professional opportunity that arises.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Strengths that I find important to note are my genuineness and humbleness. I put the team before myself and care for others. I am the first to deflect credit. I understand my role and do it to the best of my ability. Reliability also comes to mind, as I haven’t missed a game throughout my collegiate career. I was fortunate to be recognized, along with two of my teammates, as having played in the most games at Augustana. I am also adaptable and a quick learner.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
Please do not let my height discourage you from making the best decision for your organization. I play the game with a ton of heart and passion. Sit down with me, and you’ll understand why I am so special.
