Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
For my final collegiate season, I aimed to be a leader that my coaches and teammates trusted on the field. I needed to be a playmaker that could be counted on in big moments to lead my team to success. With this mindset I worked into the starting RB role and lead my team in rushing yards, carries, and touchdowns.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I believe that my coaches and teammates would say that I’m a hardworking, blue-collar, relentless player that would do any and everything to help my team win. I approach the game in such a way that it requires my coaches and teammates to be their best all the time because that is the standard.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When studying film, I try to watch as much as I can. First, I start by watching all of my practice and game reps, breaking down everything I do to such detail that I focus on aspects like improving each step that I take on each individual play. Next, I watch each of my teammates practice and game reps, even breaking down their technique and rules so that I can use their responsibilities and tendencies to my advantage. Lastly, I watch my opponents film with the same intensity and detail oriented focus that I do for myself and my teammates. With these three steps, there isn’t much that I’m not prepared for, or there aren’t many things that will ever surprise me come game day. I approach film this way because I believe that if you don’t have to think, you can play fast, and that is one of my greatest edges in the game of football.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I believe that there are many factors which separate me from other pro prospects at my position. I have always prepared and practiced like a pro thanks to the mentors and coaches I have had around me. I truly believe that the guidance and preparation I have gained from my coaches, trainers, mentors and even family has put me far ahead of other prospects mentally. In addition to the mental aspect of football, my ability to do everything on the field also makes me a very dynamic player which makes preparing to play against me even more difficult. I have clocked a 4.4 40 yard dash, an incredibly quick 5-10-5, and have worked with the best trainers in the game. Not only am I a physical runner, but I can also make people miss easily and my hands in the receiving game are just as good as my ability to rush the ball. To summarize, I’m a very well rounded player and I truly believe that no matter what team I’m on, or what my job is, I’m an instant impact player.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities is to work with the same trainers who have got me to where I am, and to go even harder than I have before. My favorite saying is to “stay ready, so I don’t have to get ready”!
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Physically, I’m very quick and can break the second level with my speed. I’m also a very physical runner and am not scared of contact. In addition to being a physical runner, I never go down to first contact and it typically takes multiple players to take me down since I always finish runs/catches. I can align in the slot thanks to my catching ability as well as my route running ability (Worked extensively with NFL WR Adrian Coxson, NFL WR Kashif Moore, WR coach Footdoctor). I have a great variety of moves that I can utilize thanks to my athletic ability (I show jukes, spins, hurdles in my Stetson University highlight tape) (Cornell University highlight tape also displays this). I would consider my running vision for reading blocks and how plays will play out to be exceptional (which shows specifically this last year with an all underclass line). Mentally I am able to learn a playbook and know what all positions are doing in addition to my own assignments on plays/schemes. On the field, I like to operate as a QB in the sense that if someone is aligned wrong or doesn’t know the play I can adjust them (which also helps me with my assignments). On the sidelines, I am good at taking coaching and immediately implementing, suggesting in-game adjustments, and helping communicate team goals. Lastly, I take pride in attempting to be the hardest working player on the team whether that is on or off the field. I typically accomplish this goal by doing something to make me better everyday, and I always do extra compared to what is asked of me.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
My final pitch to the NFL and other pro leagues is that I’m a person/player that will bring any organization a total net positive on and off the field. I have been dedicated to the game since I started playing when I was just four years old, and my passion, dedication, and skill set has since been on a steady incline. I know I can make an impact on any organization that chooses me, and I’m hoping for more opportunities to continue to learn and grow as a person and player.
