Deonté Glover: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Deonté Antonio Kwesi Glover
School: Shepherd
Position: RB/ATH
Height:  5’10″
Weight: 215

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

– In my final collegiate season, goals that I’ve set and accomplished include; receiving all conference and region honors, leading the conference in rushing and All-Purpose yards, and to rank top 5 nationally in numerous areas (All-purpose tads, Total TD’s, and Rushing TD’s).
– Outside of football, I have set and accomplished my goal to earn straight A’s in my masters program this semester.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I have no doubt that my coaches and players will say that I’m the ultimate team player as I do not play for personal accolades, instead, I play to win. They would say that I’m an unselfish player, I would willingly play any position on the field if that’s what coaches think will give us the best chance to win. They would also say that I am leader by example on and off the field.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

As a Running Back, I spend most of my time studying how the opposing team’s D-Line plays. Are they aggressive at the point of contact, do they like to use different stunts, do they rush upfield? I also pay attention to the way the LB’s play. To sum it up, I study opposing players’ tendencies.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My versatility and football IQ greatly separates me from other pro prospects at my position. I am not a 1-dimensional player. I could run, catch, block, and tackle. Not all running backs could do that nor are they willing to play other positions. I could do all these things at a high level. My senior year stats and highlights could attest to that.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I plan on isolating myself with a few athletes who have the same ambition, drive and goals as me, and we will be hitting the gym and field hard. To do so, I’ll register with a professional training program for combine/pro day prep where I will get advanced training, rehab and nutrition which will allow me to be well prepared for future endeavors.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Versatility, leadership, and a positive character. Like I explained before, my versatility on the field allows a team to use me in multiple positions. I am also versatile off the field as I possess a bachelors in Criminal Justice and in April of 2020, I will have earned me a Masters in Business Administration. I have many interests off the field, I am not just a football player, I am Deonté Glover first. My leadership and positive character is a great strength that I possess as I could encourage and lead teammates with becoming better on the field as well as in life. It’s always good to have a positive person around you.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

I am really a diamond in the rough. I am a hungry, ambitious player who plays with heart and is relentless when it comes to reaching goals and succeeding. That is, if I set a goal, I will not stop until I reach it and even when I do reach it, I’ll be looking to surpass it. Coming from a D2 school, I may be overlooked. All I need is an opportunity and I will do the rest in front of your eyes.
